From our original Kimball Avenue store to Glenview and Hi-Mart, Joong Boo Market has grown around customer service, quality products, and honest pricing.
What guides us
Our core philosophy has always centered on customer service, quality products, and price. Being honest and transparent in our business has been paramount to our success.
We stay focused on the shopping experience, from the aisle to the checkout line.
Buyers and QA staff work with vendors and farmers to keep shelves fresh and authentic.
Transparency and value have been at the center of our business since day one.
Three chapters of growth across Chicagoland, each rooted in the same commitment to fresh food and fair prices.

Since January 1992
Joong Boo Market first opened on Kimball Avenue in January 1992. What started as a neighborhood Asian grocery has grown into a destination for produce, meat, seafood, pantry staples, and houseware under one roof.
Our buyers work closely with hundreds of vendors, farmers, and brokers to source authentic products. QA staff on the floor make sure only the freshest produce, meat, and seafood reach our shelves.
Inside the store you will also find Snack Corner, our counter-service kitchen, and Wang Mandoo steaming out front.

Restaurant supply since 2001
We opened our second concept, Hi-Mart, in January 2001. After a fire in April 2004, we rebuilt and reopened in December 2006 with a focus on restaurant equipment and housewares.
Hi-Mart carries one of the largest selections of kitchenware, appliances, cutlery, gifts, and houseware products in the Midwest. Wholesale pricing and services are available for restaurants and food-service operators.

Opened December 2018
Our Glenview store brought a larger footprint and even more room for fresh choices. Shoppers will find expanded produce, a wider grocery selection, and full meat and seafood counters.
A mezzanine-level food court serves elevated Korean dishes alongside our famous Wang Mandoo dumplings. We built this location to deliver the same quality and prices Joong Boo is known for, with more space to browse.

The snack corner is an unassuming little gem. We had the spicy sashimi and the bulgogi, and both were delicious. Everything we saw looked yummy!
